Drvenik is located 27 kilometers
to the south-east from Makarska, and today it has 500 inhabitants. Drvenik is
the ferry harbour for the island of Hvar. The church of St Juraj , where valuable
antique furniture is preserved, is located in Drvenik. Drvenik is also rich in
thick woods, which is also why the place is called Drvenik (drvo = wood, in
Croatian). The highest peak, called Buhalj,
is on the north east side. The castle Maretti is situated on Veli
Drvenik.
