Vrboska
Vrboska is a small island place on the island of Hvar, with 526 inhabitants. It consists of two parts - the east one is called Pjaca, and the west one is called Podva. They are connected with a small bridge, which is why the place got nicknamed Small Venice (Mala Venecija in Croatian). The accommodation in Vrboski is possible in hotels, family boarding houses or nudist camp. Vrboska offers quality restaurants, taverns, bars and sports courts for recreation. The most beautiful beaches are situated on the Soline Peninsula, in Maslinica bay and on the small island of Zecevo. Historical sights in Vrboska are: parish church St Lovrinac (St Lawrence), where valuable Renaissance and Baroque paintings are exposed. St Peter's church is at the gate of the port. It is the oldest church on the island. Small church St Rok was built in Baroque Gothic style, as a vow against plague. The first church St Mary was built in 1575, and was protecting Vrboska from Turkish attacks.
