Sveti Lovrec

St Lovrec is situated 17 kilometres far from Porec on the highway heading to Pula. Nowadays this charming place shows by its city walls that it has been a settlement even in prehistoric times. Lovrec was a centre of Venetian military governance in Istria. At the town cemetery there is the St.Martin church from the 11th century. In the church there are valuable wall pictures and a wooden gothic statue of Mother Mary, as well. The town was named after the St.Lovro church. Out of the city walls near the huge gate there is the St. Blaz church with a peculiar roof and valuable pictures in it.
