Kupari is a place 8 kilometers southeast from Dubrovnik. During the Republic of Dubrovnik, in Kupari was the tile production (in Dalmatia tiles are called "kupa" - which is the origin of the name of the village Kupari). Near Kupari there is a fortress Toreta, built in 1626 , as a defense from pirates.
