The island of Hvar is situated between three islands -the island of Brac, the island of Vis and the island of Korcula, and also the Peljesac Peninsula alongside the Makarska Riviera. Hvar's length is 68 kilometers, and its widest part is 10.5 kilometers wide. Total area of the island is 299,66 square kilometers, with coastline of 269,2 kilometers and with the highest peak being St Nicholas - 628 m. The island of Hvar is long and narrow, covered in vineyards, lavender fields and old Venetian coastal. Life is slow, and everything is subject to pleasure. The city of Hvar is the most popular and the most charming place on the island. On the west side of the island, close to one another rest three places - the town of Stari Grad, Jelsa and Vrboska. East side of the island is less inhabited, and, compared to west side, with less offerings. Tourism is very developed, as well as viticulture, growing figs, olives, rosemary, lavender and catching fish. The island of Hvar has rich historic and cultural heritage. It is famous for its hotels, villas, camps, apartments, nudist beaches, marinas, but also for the oldest theater in Croatia. In Hvar you can taste, among other specialties, traditionally prepared fish, accompanied with excellent wine from the island. On beautiful beaches of the island Hvar you will feel true Mediterranean atmosphere of this sunniest Dalmatian island.
