Babino Polje is one of the oldest settlements on the island of Mljet, with 336 inhabitants. It is 6 kilometers away from the Sobra port. Babino Polje village is located on the field with the same name (which can be translated as Grandmother's field) , so the village was actually named after the field. It has 398 inhabitants. There are two caves near the settlement - one is Movrica, about 100 meters long, and the other one is Ostasevica, about 400 meters long. There is also a parish church of St Vlah.
